Our volunteers are keen food growers who offer support and advice to new growers, either individually in their own homes and gardens or in community groups. We are one of a number of Master Gardener programmes run by the national charity Garden Organic and are funded by LCC Public Health. We aim to bring the physical and mental health benefits of growing, as well as its community building potential to Leicestershire residents, particularly those from the more vulnerable groups. Our volunteers support new growers from pre-school children through to elderly residents of sheltered housing, on sites from residents' gardens on council estates to day centres and youth clubs. They also encourage people to have a go at growing something simple at local events and through workshops and talks to community groups.
