The Leicester Masaya Link Group co-ordinates Leicester's international town-twinning link with the city of Masaya in Nicaragua (Central America). We work towards the relief of poverty in Nicaragua and we raise awareness of related global issues in Leicester and its surroundings. In Leicester, we work with schools, youth and community groups, delivering educational programmes that help to build understanding of the link and associated global issues across all sectors of the community. We also put on public talks to inform people about our work, as well as cultural events that bring the richness of Nicaragua's cultural heritage to Leicester and celebrate the diversity of our respective cities. Our work in Nicaragua focuses on projects for sustainable development, working with local partners to facilitate projects that respond to local needs and empower the people they involve.
